BSL Interpreter Birmingham

Melaine Brown assisting a deaf blind person at an event

My passion for working within the Deaf community developed after I experienced firsthand the frustrations and barriers that have to be faced on a day to day basis, in what seemed to be a constant struggle for access and equal opportunities. This experience taught me how valuable a British Sign Language / English interpreter really was and highlighted on a regular basis the shortage of high quality professionals that were available.

I work hard to provide interpreting and communication support as a freelance BSL interpreter. When safe to do so, I work face-to-face. I also offer remote BSL interpretation services via a high quality video service such as Zoom or Cisco Webex.

Working accross Birmingham and the West Midlands, I provide translation services to meet the needs of deaf and the hard of hearing. As you would expect, I am NRCPD registered and qualified to NVQ Level 6 in British Sign Language/English Interpreting.
